#6 - L'oiseau rare (the odd bird)
The literal translation for "L'oiseau rare" is "the rare bird" but it can also mean "the odd bird" which is how my mom uses the expression most of the time. Being an odd bird can be good or bad, depending on context. Read the odd bird story here.
This odd bird came about when a magnificent piece of pink paper landed on my desk I cut red pieces from a sample of Neenah paper I had been saving for three years, added that blue metallic paint that I have been obsessing about and made marks with china ink. But I am most proud of the symmetrical embroidered pattern. I adore patterns, especially Persian carpets and 1970's wall paper. I think the gold and blue came out very 70's.
This piece is so yummy, I am having a hard time letting go of it, which is the point of this exercise.
So. Who will claim the odd bird?
The artwork is 4" x 4" and comes framed in a 8.5" x 8.5" shadow box. Fishing reel not included.
